Investment by ONGC in Tripura
Central Ground Water Board organizes workshop

ONGC has decided to invest Rs 5050 crore in Tripura for gas exploration and associated infrastructure.  In a meeting on Feb 11, 2016 in New Delhi, Board of ONGC  agreed to invest Rs 31.04 Crore in Tripura. Meanwhile, Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas chalked out Hydrocarbon Vision – 2030 for North East Region. It is learnt that ONGC has decided to infuse more invest in accordance with this and make Hydrocarbon Hub in Tripura more comprehensive.  Notably, ONGC has 11 gas wells in Tripura and out of this, gas is being collected from 7 wells.

Central Surface Water Board has organized a workshop on Friday in Agartala as a part of ‘Jal Kranti Abhiyan’ launched by the Central Govt. Experts have opined that unless water reservation is taken seriously and systematically, water crisis will prevail worldwide. Experts also discussed upon underground water and rainwater harvesting and preservation. Regional Director of Central Surface water Board Dr Utpal Gagoi, Chief Engineer of Water Resource Department of the State Govt Tapan Lodh, Professor of Women College Dr Rita Das Nayek and Chief Engineer of Drinking water and Sanitation Department of the State Govt B K Debbarma spoke on various related issues in the workshop.
